Heavy rain lashing the Capital has led to poor driving conditions across the city - with forecasters warning overnight frost could lead to icy roads tomorrow morning.

Localised flooding hit several areas of the Capital as rain washed over the city’s streets overnight and into this morning.

But a Met Office spokesman insisted the rain was set to die down by mid afternoon - giving way to a fall in temperatures and overnight frost.

He said: “There is still a little bit of rain to come across the area, but once that rain has been through we are then looking at a dry afternoon with clear spells overnight.”

“There will be a touch of frost overnight, with minimum temperatures in rural areas falling to -1°C. There may well be icy patches in some areas.”
