FIVE suspected drug-dealers have been charged after police found heroin and cocaine during raids in East Lothian.

Officers searched addresses in Preston Terrace, Gardiner Road, High Street, McGregor Pend, North Grange Avenue and New Street – all Prestonpans – and Delta Drive, Musselburgh.

Drugs were discovered with an estimated street value of more than £5000.

A 45-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman have been charged with drug offences and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

A 32-year-old woman was also charged in connection with possession of Class A drugs during the same incident, as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old man will also be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and will appear in court later.

Chief Inspector Matt Paden, local area commander for East Lothian, said: “This was a highly successful operation which resulted in a substantial amount of harmful substances being removed from our streets along with thousands of pounds worth of cash.”
