Aaron Hickey made an impressive Serie A debut for Bologna against Parma and now joins a small, but growing, band of Scots footballers who are currently plying their trade in Europe.
At 18, the former Hearts left back has followed in the footsteps of several teenage countrymen who have upped sticks at a young age in order to pursue a career on the continent.
Here are some of the Scots footballers in Europe to keep an eye on this season ...

2. Barry Hepburn - Bayern Munich
Scotland U17 winger moved to the German giants from Celtic last month, following in the footsteps of Liam Morrison. Hailed as "a tricky, right-footed forward who combines skill and an impressive change of pace" Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group / SFA
3. Jack Harper - Getafe
Born in Spain to Scottish parents, the former Real Mardrid youth left Malaga for La Liga side Getafe in a £1.5m move last summer before being loaned out to Alcorcón in the second tier, where he failed to net in 13 appearances Photo: SNS Group Paul Devlin
4. Jordan Holsgrove - Celta Vigo
