With a £30,000 bounty on his head, Bonnie Prince Charlie was on the run for five months across the Highlands and Islands following his defeat at Culloden.

While concealed in the houses of his supporters, the Prince fled to caves hidden deep in the mountains and coastline as the search for him intensified. Here were look at the rugged hideouts that sheltered the country’s then most wanted fugitive.
