The helicopter landed around 11pm last night.

A helicopter was brought to land on the Meadows late last night surrounded by emergency service vehicles.

An ambulance could be seen approaching the helicopter as police officers kept members of the public back from the vehicle.

It is not yet known why the helicopter was needed but Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for details.

Helicopters have previously landed on the Meadows in order to make transfers to the nearby Edinburgh Sick Kids hospital.
