ANYONE watching the catwalks this season couldn't fail to notice the distinctly retro feel of many of the collections – snakeskin, black lace, sequins and tweed all made a re-appearance – and, of course, the classic LBD was centre-stage yet again.
If you feel inspired to try the vintage look yourself, a good place to start is Trinket, newly arrived on William Street in the city's West End.
This boutique is a treasure trove of vintage jewellery and accessories, ranging from 1970s snakes
kin bags, Art Deco plastic, 60s belts and brooches, to pieces from top-end vintage makers such as Miriam Haskell and Bogoff.
Everything in the shop has been chosen by owner Jan Smith with current fashion trends in mind. Good examples are bags by Etienne Aigner (1950s) and Furla (1980) that would go well with the country tweed look from D & G this autumn.
But if vintage isn't really your thing, the boutique also stocks a large selection of one-off designs by the cream of young Scottish jewellery makers, from earrings and necklaces of Sarah Hutchison, to Susan Kerr's flower brooches and Matador's animal pendants.
Whatever you're looking for, you'll find it at Trinket, and with prices from £10 to over £500, there's something to suit every pocket too.
