A COUPLE who bought a Narnia website name for their son's birthday have lost their battle with the estate of CS Lewis over the right to use it.
Richard and Gillian Saville-Smith, from Edinburgh, bought the name www.narnia.mobi for their 11-year-old son Comrie, who is a fan of the CS Lewis books.

But they became embroiled in a fight with CS Lewis (Pte) Ltd, the firm which owns the author's estate, which wants the website name.

It lodged a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (Wipo).

The couple said they heard today that Wipo has decided to award the website name to the CS Lewis estate.

Mrs Saville-Smith said they were surprised at the decision: "We are shocked and astounded. Comrie is fine. He just says it would have been nice to e-mail his friends from a Narnia address."

Baker & McKenzie, the lawyers representing the company, claimed Mr and Mrs Saville-Smith had been using the domain in "bad faith" to make money – a claim they denied.
