RESIDENTS in Northfield have seen their area's entry on internet encyclopedia Wikipedia vandalised by online jokers.
On its entry, Northfield's "claim to fame" is now cited as "Keith Chegwin's sister-in-law's mother once knew someone who lived in the area for two months."

The east Edinburgh area's gang culture is also referred to as "a bit ho hum" by the pranksters, who describe the YNE (Young Northfield Eagles) and the YNC (Young Northfield Crew) as "two of the most pathetic gangs in the east coast of Scotland".

Under the "landmarks" section, the entry reads: "Two of the best known landmarks would be the community centre and the well decorated green box outside of it. It has been local folklore for years as to why this box is actually there and what it contains. I can now reveal it is a listening post for the CIA manned by midgets."

The website, which allows users to alter its entries, was the subject of controversy after it was revealed the CIA and Vatican were among the groups which made untrue alterations for political ends.

Good grief EEN, is this the best you can do?

Honestly, whoever wrote this article should hang their head in shame and acknowledge that their career in journalism is dead, and on top of that, a laughing stock.

To be fair, the chippy at the end of Northfield Broadway is amongst the best in Edinburgh, so it has that going for it. Get the Special fish, it's bigger than your dinner plate!

Michael.
