MP backs traders' trams plea
EDINBURGH North and Leith MP Mark Lazarowicz is backing traders in their bid for more help in coping with disruption caused by the city's tram project.
Mr Lazarowicz said he was going to write to council leader Jenny Dawe to urge her to make sure that the council gives the extra support traders say is so desperately needed.
He added: "I have raised these concerns with the tram promoters TIE, as have many others, and I know they have made some changes to extend the eligibility for financial support.
However, following approaches I have had from local leaders of the Federation of Small Businesses, I would urge the council and TIE to do much more.
"There are businesses in my constituency that are having a difficult time.
"They will continue to do so for much of the next three years until the trams are in operation."
