Verdict of Hibs fans Joe Afif, Dave Canning and Kevin McCabe.
Joe Afif, a 17 year old student from Inverness, said: "We have never scored a goal up here so I wasn't the most optimistic, but our second half performance was a joy to behold at times. As I thought, our lightweight midfield were easily physically ou
tmatched time and time again by Caley, however it often showed flashes of flair and class, which Caley couldn't match. Our closest chance to the winning goal was when Nish hit a header off the inside of the post, which was extremely unfortunate.
Dave Canning, is a 55-year-old bank worker from Lochend, said: "It was good to get off the mark in Inverness after going so long without even a goal up there. We're getting there, although I don't think the monkey is really off Mixu's back just yet, but it was nice to see Nish getting on the score sheet (eventually) although Fletcher still seems a bit off the pace. I think we need to build on this and keep the results coming in, and the earlier in the season we can get points on the board the better, as we struggled later on in the year last season. I still think we need a new goalkeeper though and hopefully Mixu can get that sorted before the end of the transfer window. It's the same old story though – until we can get bodies out the door we can't get new players in, and you've got to wonder about some of the contracts we seem to have been handing out. Still, I think it was a good afternoon out, although Rankin missed a sitter and I would have probably introduced Stevenson a bit earlier on. I would say that this will give the guys some confidence in going forward though and that was something we were sorely lacking in the close season."
Kevin McCabe, a lifelong Hibee from Liberton, said: "Personally I was a little disappointed at not taking all three points after dominating the second half. Nish was unlucky with his header which came back off the post and Dean Shiels mis-kicking when he was presented with a clear strike just about sums up his season so far. I'm still not convinced by our full backs but the rest of the team are performing reasonably well. Big Jonesy won everything and Hogg was very good at the back, while Rankin and Keenan never stopped in the middle of the park. Alan O'Brien has been like a new player this season and found big Nish's head almost at will on Saturday. We missed him when he went off. Steven Fletcher on the other hand looks short of confidence and badly needs a goal. Still, we've broken our scoring duck in Inverness, so hopefully our next visit will yield a win!"
