HIBS boss Mixu Paatelainen today revealed he hopes to bring in at least one more new signing before the transfer window shuts this weekend.
Steven Thicot, Joe Keenan, David van Zanten and Steve Pinau have all been added to the Easter Road squad over the summer but Paatelainen believes it still needs strengthening.
Paatelainen has made no secret of the fact he would like to add another goalkeeper to compete with Andy McNeil and Yves Ma-Kalambay for the gloves but today he disclosed he wants to bolster his side's firepower by signing one more striker. He said: "The goalkeeping position is one I am looking at all the time but there are other areas. I feel we need more firepower up front and I am looking at that as well.
"But it is important to take care with our signings and be responsible. If it doesn't happen this week that doesn't mean we have not worked at it.
"We are working full blast all the time, every day."
Whether or not there are new arrivals this week, Paatelainen believes his side are playing well following a draw against Inverness Caledonian Thistle which saw Hibs score for the first time in six visits to the Capital of the Highlands thanks to Colin Nish's third goal of the season.
Paatelainen, his players and most observers felt Hibs should have won the game comfortably, given the number of chances they created - just as they had the previous week in beating Falkirk 3-2.
The Hibs manager said: "It's important to realise we are playing well. In the first half we had by far the better chances, had more of the ball and the second half was all ours. It's pleasing to realise we are dominating matches, playing well and creating chances."
Paatelainen, however, admitted to a measure of frustration at not taking a greater percentage of those openings while insisting that if his players continue to make as many chances the odds are that an opposition team will find itself on the wrong end of a mauling.
He said: "I've had a chat with the boys regarding chances, we really need to convert them because there will be games in which we don't make too many so you need to capitalise when you do. It is frustrating because you want to win matches but I can't wait for the day when they all start going in. But going up to Inverness is not easy, they are a spirited team determined to make it a very difficult place and Hibs are probably the best club to realise that."
French star Pinau finally gained international clearance allowing him to make his debut as a substitute in the last couple of minutes and the striker, on loan from Italian Serie A side Genoa, will continue working towards gaining full match fitness by playing in Wednesday's reserve game against Falkirk at Livingston (kick-off 2pm).
Paatelainen intends to make a couple of changes for tomorrow night's Co-operative Insurance Cup tie against First Division outfit Morton with winger Alan O'Brien a doubt having picked up a knee injury which forced him out of the action on Saturday.
Abdessalam Benjelloun, on loan to Belgian club Royal Charleroi, scored the only goal of the game as his new side beat KSV Roeselare.
