INVERNESS manager Craig Brewster has revealed midfielder Markus Paatelainen is facing six months out with a knee ligament injury, but the club have offered him a contract to see him through his recovery.
Paatelainen, 25, who was not involved in Saturday's 0-0 draw with St Mirren, could have faced months without a club, as his current deal is close to expiry, but Caley have vowed to stand by him after tests revealed the nature of the training ground injury.

"Unfortunately his scan shows a cruciate injury, but he's a great professional," Brewster said.

"The club have offered him a six-month deal and I think he appreciates that the club have decided to stick by him.

"If any player will come back he's certainly got the determination to do that."

Brewster saw his side survive for the closing 36 minutes against Saints with ten men after David Proctor was sent off for a professional foul.

He said: "We were excellent in the first half, created three really good opportunities and could have had the game wrapped up by half-time. When you lose David Proctor through the red card you're always hoping that you don't concede."
