MICK WADSWORTH pledged to remain at Gretna throughout their troubles, after leading them to a 2-1 defeat against Inverness.
The league clash went ahead only after the SPL and the club's administrators, Wilson Field, struck a deal on Friday.

Even then only 431 fans – a record low for the league – turned out at Fir Park.

A total of 29 players and staff were made redundant last month, and the former Carlisle boss feels a duty to help the youngsters left.

Wadsworth said: "I spent some time away last week, looking at a job for next year, but there is not a cat in hell's chance I will take a job before whatever happens here happens.

"I want to stay and help these players, because they have been put in a really difficult situation through no fault of their own."

431 fans, another record low. It has to be said, sadly, that if Gretna fans themselves think the game is up, it's hard to persuade others to rally round to the cause.

Brooks Mileson has brought nothing but ignomy to the SPL this season; let's hope we never again witness this kind of farcical situation.
