Local SNP Councillor Euan Hyslop, who represents Drum Brae and Gyle, took to social media to hit back at the thieves.

He wrote: “Disgusted to hear from the parent council of Clermiston Primary School that their bike shed was broken into, and 3 bikes stolen. We need safe, secure bike storage to encourage more cycling. I'll work with the parent council to make sure it continues to be the best option.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a break-in and theft from a premises on Parkgrove Place, Edinburgh, around 12.30pm on Friday, 5 August, 2022.

“Entry to a shed was gained and bicycles were taken.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
