Council is to honour grants

DAY care centres and lunch clubs will receive thousands of pounds in grants, after a council funding fiasco threatened to leave them in the lurch.
Community groups in East Lothian had been told there was no money to pay £750,000 worth of grants before the year end, after being promised the funding in April, before the election.

Provost Sheena Richardson, a trustee of East Lothian Community Development Trust, said the previous administration had "jumped the gun" by allocating money before funds were available but it has been agreed council reserves will cover the grants.
