FORMER Hearts midfielder Kenny Black will make an emotional return to Tynecastle tonight – and admits his hardest decision will be which players to leave out.
Black, now manager of Airdrie United, brings his side to the Capital to face Csaba Laszlo's side in the second round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup and is hoping to pull off a shock result – his side have taken just three points from their opening
three games of the new domestic campaign.

Black, who has a full squad to choose from, said: "Obviously everyone is desperate to play. The most difficult thing will be deciding who misses out. We've been fortunate in that we have had a fairly settled squad so far this season. I've been happy with the way that they have performed in the league, although we have yet to win a game.

"We've had three 0-0 draws and been unfortunate in the first two. Saturday (against Dunfermline] was probably the worst performance but I don't think that there's any point in making wholesale changes."

It will be Black's first trip back to Tynecastle as a manager and he's confident that his players will give a good account of themselves.

He added: "The players who were already at the club, and those I have brought in over the summer, all want to play in games like tonight's."

Kenny Black always a dirty player in my mind,
Bet he remembers the Hibs, especially the tackle from Gordon Rae.

I bet he's peeing himself at the thought of coming back to Edinburgh just in case be bumps into big bad Rae!

What a stupid comment to make!

If history has taught us one thing it is this...

NEVER discount the threat of Airdrie. Hearts have had a few bad ones against this lot and I hate playing them almost as much as I hate that stinking little midden of a town that they come from.

Airdrie: Scotland's backside.

we took a few sore ones from the old airdrie. the first scottish cup semi vs them was a sickener. the replay was so one sided in our favour and we hit the woodwork about 4 times.

hate playing them.

My hatred of Airdrionians was absolute too and hopefully we can trounce these Airdrie United boys and lay an old ghost to rest at last.

Hate airdrie almost as much as St Mirren

Could never feel confident going into matches against the old Airdrie, let's see how things fare against the new Airdrie...

I know their supporters are hingin' The place itself is a total hole too.

I hate passing through Airdrie it has a real bandit country feel to it... All these strange wee pillbox like shops with bars on the windows and more tracksuits than the Olympic Villiage in Beijing.

#10, we were horsing them up and down the park too. i reckon we would have gone on to win that about 5-0. ended up we got trousered 3-0 away.

#11, too true. look at their surroundings, buckfast central.

gorgeousgorgieboy,

Could be a difficult one. I believe that our much maligned management have cut prices for this game? Perhaps we'll get a better crowd than ER last night?
15

Chas Niceass,

#13 Indeed we did. I think it was for timewasting in the 1st leg, not for leaving the box.
I remember being a daft young laddie in the return leg, t shirted up in Italy, sun was out before ko, but it soon became cold.
Kirkwood had a chance in the final secs to send it into ET but blazed over.
Only time I've been grateful for how useless Kirkwood really was.
Airdrie have horsed us several times though, once not long after Bologna actually at the old Broomfield.
Traynor will be having kittens if they win.

Can anyone think of anything good to ever come out of Airdrie... the only thing I was ever glad to see come out of Airdrie was me... In one piece.

Weird thing that... It's back again. the Gypsy stuff was started by east is easter so he would have to be kicked off probably... maybe not on the Hibsman though.

Wasn't directed at anyone in particular though, just an old joke.

East at Easter had the audacity to suggest we had some kind of link to travelling people at hearts and called us Gypsies... Such ignorance to the history of his club.

Anyway it is back again now. :o)

Anyway hope we take this game seriously and give them a good gubbing. Lots of high scores last night to emulate.

Follow-up headline tomorrow if we lose "Black in Pulling Off Shock"?

Yes, you're so right. It is much less embarassing to get beaten at home on penalties by a 10 man 1st division side!!! You must be so proud to hold out for 2 hours without losing a goal. Your dfence must have performed miracles.
Get a grip you complete plonker.

Well i am gonna stand up and be counted when i say " i hope shabba learns from this", we do need signings, especially someone who can score, i aint aggrieved too much of going out of this cup, nice to win but no passage to Europe attached, all it does by losing is create negativity, we could really do without that sentiment for now, the Hobos are getting their fare share just now, long may it continue, God bless the mighty JT'S
