BONNYRIGG ROSE boss Pat Glynn is confident his side can overcome the loss of key players Jamie Ewart and Mark Robertson to challenge in the Super League this season.
The New Dundas Park outfit have lost right back Roberston's services to rivals Linlithgow Rose while centre-half Ewart has made the step up to senior football with Berwick Rangers. Both players were outstanding for Rose towards the end of last season
and, while conceding he would rather have kept them, Glynn insisted his side can still prosper.

"Mark Robertson will be a big miss because he scored 13 goals for us last season and so will be hard to replace, but we'll try," said Glynn.

"In terms of Jamie, we've tried a few centre halves but nothing has happened yet. We made a move for Joe Mbu when he was at Whitburn but he signed for Cowdenbeath.

"As usual at this time of the season it's hit or miss but I'm sure things will develop before the season starts again. I have to make some signings in the coming weeks but at the moment there's nothing to report, although it's not for the lack of trying."

The Evening News understands that Scottish Junior Cup winners Bathgate Thistle made an approach for Bonnyrigg's influential midfielder John Elliot but, with the player under contract, have baulked at Rose's asking price. Elliot is now expected to remain at New Dundas Park next season.
