EDINBURGH KINGS face Falkirk Fury at 7pm tomorrow in the climax of five games and ten hours of basketball at Portobello High School and coach Danny Costello believes that Kings can upset the odds and defeat the current senior men's league leaders despite Falkirk's impressive recent form.
Conceding that Fury are probably favourites after their 90-76 victory over Troon Tornadoes last weekend Costello said: "If we play to our potential then I think we can nick one off them – we had a terrific first quarter against St Mirren last weeken
d but didn't play with the same intensity after that and allowed them back into the game. We can't afford to let that happen tomorrow."
Kings will be without their sharp-shooting Irish cap Paul Cummins tomorrow but welcome back Scotland point guard Laurie Costello for the first time this season and are also hopeful that another of Scotland's 2006 Commonwealth Games team, Campbell Flockhart, will be available following the birth of a daughter this week.
Coach Costello has fitness worries over Sean Hume and Lee Pettett, though Hume trained last night. If Pettett fails to make it, 17-year-old junior cap Ally Mackay may be called up.
Falkirk, who have only one defeat to Kings' two, have two outstanding teenagers in their team in Ali Fraser, who bagged 38 points against Troon, and point guard Jonny Bunyan, who provides most of his service.
With Jonny's elder brother Keith and Daniel Donnelly also in the team Fury have plenty of scoring options.
Fresh from their win over champions St Mirren, Edinburgh Kool Kats are on court immediately before the men against local rivals Polonia Phoenix.
Kings junior and cadet men play St Mirren at 1pm and 3pm resspectively.
