HEARTS today recruited versatile Polish midfielder Adrian Mrowiec from FBK Kaunas, although the club have refused to reveal whether he is a permanent transfer or loan signing.

Mrowiec, 24, played in Kaunas' recent Champions League qualifying success over Rangers and club officials expect him to be at Tynecastle for at least a year.

They are reluctant to divulge details on the exact terms of his arrival but manager Csaba Laszlo is happy to have reinforced the defensive midfield area of his side.

"This is a player that we wanted to sign and I am happy that he is coming to Hearts," Laszlo told the Hearts website.

"We needed to strengthen the central midfield defensive position and I think Adrian will help us."

Mrowiec is expected to fly into Edinburgh over the next 24 hours after playing in Kaunas' Champions League third qualifying round defeat to Aalborg last night.

Laszlo stressed he also has several other options open regarding possible incomings before the transfer window closes on Monday evening. "We have many possibilities and, as long as there are possibilities, we will do everything we can to make things happen," he said.

Another stunning signing by Csaba or more than likely mad Vlad. Obviously he will be no good like the rest of the Kaunas boys brought over here as the quote "versatile" means he is mince all over the park and has no real favoured position.

Why can't we try and sign a decent player or two that contributed to Rangers downfall??

I guess the success was all down to him showcasing his unbelievable talents over there. I certainly don't remember him standing out in the Kaunas team but they are full of superstars right enough.

Aalborg eh, that was a good result

"the club have refused to reveal whether he is a permanent transfer or loan signing"

For this read "the club haven't said on their website". But I think we can guess what the story is!

We don't need a defender/midfielder, we have enough already. Karipidis has done OK so far, Palazuelos can play there, and Jonsson, and Stewart if he had to.
And McGowan.
That's enough players for one position surely? We don't even have that many useless directors!

If the extent of Csabas scouting is to look at Kaunas, oh and the numpty who missed the pen last night. Then god save us. Why doesn't Vlad get the whole Kaunas team over in one plane let them play a full season. Then he can see they are not up to it then he can fly back with them and give our club back to someone who does actually want to see us succeed.
Csaba is turning into another puppet. But at least the rest did not try and convince us that they picked the squad.

Another midfielder. Another Kaunas import. Another reason to believe that nothing has changed.

Why do we need to strengthen the midfield - is Kingston going? The midfield need a couple of strikers to pass the ball to, is this too simple?

have it on good authority that palazuelos cesnauskis and nade were to start with glen on bench with rapnik and korobchka told him to change team to team and subs that played last night hrs before he stated that there would be lots of changes then he plays more or less same team again another defensive midfielder why do we always sign defensive players its strikers and attacking midfielders that can score goals as usual just when things seem settled old vlad plays the its my ball card another kaunas muppet on way not even ledesma or grigalevicuis who looked good the usual rubbish i wanted him says csaba come off it sure u did if u did then u were watching wrong game against gers and ratboy defo at hibs soon its in ba

Agree with all the above and it's hard to see the Romanov apologists being happy with this. Another dud from Kaunas. And a central midfeilder for a postition where we have Stewart, Kingston, Ruben, Johnsson, Karipidis, Aguar and some promising youngsters when we have no cover at centre half, no top class right back and a dearth of strikers.

And from Kaunas. Again. Laszlo, you are looking more like a puppet all the time mate. Not good.
23

Der Kaiser,

At Uni......yes Uni! 28/08/2008 14:22:55
I have absolutely no problem with Kaunas players being brought over to Hearts......PROVIDED...they are decent players. The two clubs are strongly connected and so getting players on the cheap or on loan that can benefit us is always going to be a good thing.
Unfortunately the majority of players loaned to Hearts since Vlad came in have not been of a good enough standard and managers at that time were quite clearly being told to play certain players.
We are being told that Csaba has the final say on players so any new Kaunas players this season that don't cut it but consistently play will let us Hearts fans know that Csaba does not have full autonomy.
24

huggs,

28/08/2008 14:24:17
We still hve to give any new signing the benifit of the doubt before slagging him off

Starting to think that Vlad has still got far too much say in the team but only time will tell

Will not be able to make any games in the next four weeks so i am relying on the more sensible posters for updates as to how we are developing

#21 It did strike me as very odd that yesterday Csaba was quoted as saying "Ruben is a good football player who played a little bit more last year. At the moment, there is competition and he must work to come in the team. Tonight he has a 100 per cent chance to play."
Then last night - unused sub. Your story would explain why that happened, but would open up a whole raft of different - somewhat depressing - questions...

Nothing has changed at Hearts. We're still bringing in sub-standard Eastern European 'journeymen' to our club using Hearts as a shop window so that Kaunas can sell off their so-called promising players.

One draw and they are all out again.
It was only yesterday that someone pointed out all the signings were made by Laszlo and what he wanted and it seemed to ring true.
Miko playing regularly would be the most worrying thing for me.
Clearly the budget has to be further reduced yet.
32

Tam Flogel,

28/08/2008 16:51:20
Think we have to accept that as long as Romanov owns the club, with his pyramid of doom club ownership structure, we will always be taking players from Kaunas. Csaba said at the very start that we would be stupid not to take advantage of any opportunities to take players from the owner's other clubs and this is what he is doing. I do find it worrying that he thinks we need central midfielders when he has never even seen Ruben, Johnson or Aguiar play in their favoured position for the first team, although when you think about it none of them are tacklers in the mould of some we have had in the past (Johnson fouls too often but is closest to a genuine defensive midfielder). Why he seems to think Kari is better than these guys god only knows, but he has done alright so retains his place. Slagging Obua is being a bit unfair. He has had a poor start, but let the boy settle. New country, new team, different pace and style of football, different climate. More of a worry is the idea that the clown Korobochka is still pulling the strings. Think what happens to the goalkeeping position will be the real clue as to who is winning the power struggle (if there is one).

For god's sake is Vlad addicted to defensive midfielders?

Aguiar, Ruben and Jonsson are all defensive midfielders.

Stewart, Larry and Karapidis can all play there and now we sign another one????

FFS... STRIKERS!!!... GET ANOTHER STRIKER TO PLAY WITH TULLBERG!!!

Completely agree about Obua.

He hasn't even had a bad start... He was the best player against St Midden and he is obviously not match fit.

Wish people would chill out with these knee-jerk reactions.

Yeah right enough he hasnt had a poor start. You might think one of our forwards would be brave enough to take a penalty as well. Fair play to the boy for having the balls to step up even if he did miss it. Look at the article about Ratboy though and it sounds like we will be getting some more duff Kaunas strikers however!

Not over the moon at another Kaunas player coming over but at the end of the day they are our feeder club. The fact is that players will arrive to Hearts and Kaunas will buy players with the intention of coming over to Edinburgh. We havent even seen this guy play yet and already the boo boys are out to get him. Larry has had a very poor start tot he season and now people are getting on his back. FFS will the real Hearts supporters please stand up and get behind the team!

Bleeding Heart...,

28/08/2008 20:46:09
Who Knows? This guy might be pretty good. Then again...

Laszlo said the other day "I think we must follow the route to take young and talented players."

Perhaps tellingly, however, in the same article Laszlo is said to have "also stressed that any decisions on new players will be taken in tandem with Vladimir Romanov, Hearts' majority shareholder."

So, in other words, Laszlo is NOT autonomous.

Last night's result was/is UNACCEPTABLE - to the fans, anyway.

Romanov doesn't share the fans' feelings for HMFC. He doesn't see the way to making money on his investment as being through the signing of quality players, winning trophies, and regularly competing in Europe.

If he did, he'd be here full-time, hands-on, and sorting things out by backing Laszlo with serious funding to address, among other things, the stark need for at least one proven goal-scorer.

This latest acquisition from Kaunas has all the signs of being part of Romanov's ongoing plan to showcase young, cheap, Eastern European imports and sell them on for profit.

That's why the best 'keeper on Hearts' books was recently discarded and marginalised.

"Junior" stated this at the last AGM (and revealed Vlad's thinking in the process)...

"I think with the current situation it's easier to play and get results with younger players than to bring in costly players who get demotivated. When they get treatment from referees they think 'Why should I play?'"

Is a rough translation of what Junior said "Big money signings? Forget it. Challenge the OF? Forget it"??

Why can't we be told whether or not this guy is on-loan or a "real" signing?? What harm can it do??...and why would they think that the fans wouldn't like to know that as part of restoring confidence in the club management? Are we to be given the "mushroom treatment" again this year????
