BUCHAN PARK landed the WLBA Seniors Top Ten bowls title with a 5-3 points win over Bankton Mains in the final at Winchburgh.
It was a real cracker of final with the destination of the title in the balance until the completion of the Singles.

The Singles is often first to finish but on this occasion it followed the Pairs and Triples as it lasted a marathon 30 ends befor
e Gordon Kain clinched a 21-18 victory that tipped the scales in favour of Buchan Park.

Kain, 60, faced Bob Broadly in a game that saw peels called at 8, 9 and 10 before the Bankton Mains spearhead edged 13-11 ahead. However, Kain produced a run of 1, 3, 2 to occupy the driving seat at 16-11.

The battle raged on with the outcome still in doubt at 18-17 but Kain moved to 20 with a solid double then traded a single to bag two vital points for Buchan Park.

Kain's win put Buchan Park an unassailable 5-1 up having first of all shared the points in the Pairs where the partnership of Jim Little and Ian Sword conjured up a magic 3 to rescue a 15-15 peel. The result was a big blow to Alistair Lindsay and Bill Gorrie as the Bankton Mains pair held the lead for eight ends from 8-7 to 15-12. In the Triples, the BP architects of victory were Bill Bruce, Bob Dickson and Alex Audsley, who scored an 18-4 win over Les Willox, Ken Boucher and George Porter.

The result in the Fours might have been decisive but, in the end wasn't, with Bankton Main's Bill Gordon, Eddie West, Charlie Snape and Bob Noon coming from 7-10 to bear Stan Bremner, Mike McIntyre, George Brown and Tom Pegg 13-11.
