HEARTS boss Csaba Laszlo will sit down with sport director Anatoli Korobochka this week to discuss transfer targets – and Danish striker Michael Tullberg could be his first signing.
Tullberg was on trial with the Jambos in Germany but ruptured a muscle in his leg, which temporarily put paid to his attempts to win a move to Tynecastle.

However, the Reggina forward jetted into Edinburgh yesterday and will be assessed by he club's medical staff over the coming days before a decision is made.

Ugandan international midfielder David Obua has already agreed terms on a move to the Jambos but his switch has been caught up in red tape as the club await the verdict over an appeal on a work permit.

Laszlo has already intimated that he would have no concerns over beginning the SPL campaign with his current squad of players but also revealed that he is looking to add a goalkeeper and a striker before the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.

Laszlo said: "I will talk with the sport director about some players in the coming days but the key is we must make sure our decisions are right.

"We want only players that we know can help us to improve and that can do well here.

"Michael is a very good player and he did well in Germany. He was unlucky and picked up an injury so the medical team will have to look at him now.

"I think he can do a job here but we must sit down and talk and see that everything is right for everyone. He is a promising player."

Laszlo has completed his back-room team ahead of Saturday's visit of Motherwell with the appointment of German Werner Burger as his assistant manager.

The 50-year-old has previously been head coach at Red Star Zurich and FC Kreuzlingen in Switzerland. Laszlo and Burger studied for their UEFA pro-licence together back in 2002 and the Tynecastle boss is confident that with the technical team now finalised the club can focus on getting things right on the pitch.

"I am happy to welcome Werner because I know him well and he can be a good second coach," said Laszlo. "He has very good experience working in this role and he's also done well coaching younger players which is important for us.

"Not everyone can be a good assistant manager but I am sure he has the quality. Now we have a technical team and I don't think we'll make any other changes at the moment. We must focus on achieving success."

Lets hope 2 strikers are at the top of that list and a new keeper and centre half. All with some experience. One of those strikers has to be a penalty box poacher, The big dane may turn out to be a good player but he is a target man or hold up player I dont see him being the next Robbo. I dont think we have ever replaced the wee man, with anyone as prolific in frnt of goal. The closest we came IMO was de Vries but he was injured more than he played.

Things appear to be moving along in a positive vein down on the Gorgie Road.
Roll on Saturday, when we will get a rough idea about how much progress we've made.
Meanwhile, down at Easter Road, the "star" players have called another "meeting", because assistant ref's are earning more than them.

Agreed, but truthfully there aren't a great number of top inbox strikers around, at least in Scottish league. The wee man was exceptional and only hope one of the youngsters turn out to be half as good.

I would count Boyd as a penalty box striker. Possibly O'Connor as well. Would be interesting to see what would happen if a serious bid was made for Boyd. Probably be told where to go, given the soreness of last nights result, but we could always ask Wigan to buy him and then sell him onto us in January

You're already geared up to claim yet more evidence of a conspiracy against Hearts it seems, but the Jason Scotland fiasco shows that the authorities have previous when it comes to refusing decent players an opportunity to pursue their career in Scotland.

I hope Obua gets his permit - can't see any reason why not - but the time it's taking is inexcusable!

I really dont think Rangers would entertain a bid being made by Hearts for Boyd

You are right though, especially after last nights result, players will have to be moved on now, That 9million+ Rangers have spent Im sure would have been based on them reaching the group stages, cut backs will have to be made, and Boyd is surpluss to requirements at ibrox. Like Riorden at Celtic it wont do his International career any good

We are a normal football club again... yipee!

Meanwhile over at Ibrox, well here is a collection of my favourite quotes from the daily record this morning...

"The Ibrox boss saw his s10million ticket to the Champions League torn out of his grasp by FBK Kaunas and by Hearts reject Linas Pilibaitis whose late winner completed a humiliating 2-1 defeat." (Keith Jackson.)

then there's

"After reaching a European final at the end of last season to be knocked out at the first hurdle is like going from the sublime to the ridiculous" (Walter Smith)

'Sublime'??? You are having a ger'rafe Watty!

"Smith admitted his summer transfer budget will be slashed as a result of last night's humiliation."

Oh well why not try and out bid Wolves by offering half a million pounds less than they do for an SPL defender again... Arf, Arf, Arf!!

Did anyone else hear the ned beside the commentry box? His quotes were the best...

"Moan tae f**k Rangers, wake up!"

Pilly-Biter puts Scotland's disgrace to the sword... Happy? No that is an understatement, I am fluffing well hosing myself.

One last quote...

"And Kaunas did pose a threat on a few occassions too..."

(Dougie 'The Lada' Donnelly post match.)

28

Who?,

06/08/2008 12:35:41
Does anybody know if Nade will ever return?

I doubt hearts would be pursuing this guy if Nade was ever going to get near the first team.

Rangers need money now that they are out of europe. For a club £100m in debt with no assets the loss of roughly £12 must be gaulling. Walter Smith will need to sell before he can buy and i'm willing to bet the hatchet man Martin Bain will be looking to trim down the wage will to help reduce this season loss.

Thats why i think that hearts should bid for burke, boyd, gow and naysmith. Ok naysmith is injured but he will return and is a good player (21 i think). Burke will never get near the first team, neither will boyd or gow as there are another 5 strikers ahead of him in the que. If rangers don't want to sell or hearts can afford the transfer fees how about a season long loan deal- benefits all involved.

South African player of the year award, as well as being only 24 years old, should be enough to convince the appeals panel that Obua is worthy of a permit.

When will you get it through your skull that all you'll be signing this year will be frees, plus you'll be losing players. For instance if Kaunus make the CL Group Stages I can see Kingston being loaned to Kaunus.

1. receive application from hearts for WP hearing.

3. convene hearing.
4. try to look interested and impartial during hearing.
5. announce decision at a later date.

I never said all the players, but certainly burke or boyd or gow would add a cutting edge, whether loaned or purchased, however i doubt rangers would sell to us. Naysmith has never really been given an opportunity at ibrox. Rangers need money desperatly as £12m is one large black hole so £500k bid for Naysmith maybe not a bad bit of business.

Or would you rather we followed the hibs model and signed players freed by inverness?

Dear Ms Dawe,

G10, Heart of Midlothian Supporters Groups - Tynecastle Stadium Redevelopment

G10 represents the key Heart of Midlothian Football Club supporters organisations comprising over 25,000 active individuals from a total fanbase nationally and internationally of approximately 400,000.

G10 is made up of four distinct organisations with the common aim of supporting the development of Heart of Midlothian Football Club and its activities in Edinburgh and surrounding areas. The four groups - the Heart of Midlothian Shareholders Association, the Heart of Midlothian Supporters Trust, the Federation of Hearts Supporters Clubs and the Fans Forum - are taking an active interest in the proposals to develop Tynecastle Stadium and have consulted regularly with the club on stadium related matters.

Given that the club submitted a detailed planning application to the City of Edinburgh Council in January, and a decision is due in the near future, we would like to put on official record our whole hearted support for this project in its current form.

As Leader of the Council, we the undersigned would therefore urge you to look favourably towards the planning application and give early approval for the redevelopment of the stand and the surrounding area. The inspiration and vision demonstrated in the work that has gone into these plans for the city institution that is Heart of Midlothian Football Club deserves the support of the Council. Ultimately a redeveloped Tynecastle will rightly show both the club and the city of Edinburgh in a truly "inspiring" light across much of the world.

Vlad - Sorry - for today it is your worship -
WE DON'T NEED A KEEPER (for just now anyway) Why is it that just because Banks is x years old , folk think he is past it - His shot stopping is STILL first class. Our priority is a striker and a full back.

By the way - For ALL you thick Celtic fans out there - Do you still think there is the remotest semblance of good feeling towards Rangers from Hearts fans , seeing you think of us as mini |-|uns ? No supporters other than yourselves has taken so much delight in last night - And that includes the sheep worriers up north.

Vlad and the scarf..........

An up yours to rangers as a wind up......
Or does Vlad actually think THAT much of our club ?

Say what you like about Romanov (and I do) but yet again he is the only Owner or manager with guts to tell the truth - that a Weegie mafia has always run Scottish Football. They always will until the gutless people in charge tell the ugly sisters that enough is enough - Falkirk started the ball rolling ...................
How many fans on here outside the OF Actually disagree with Romanov's assertions ?????????

#11 nice one i liked that!!!

On the train this morning there was a few gers fans moaning about how they were robbed!!! I cannot believe that they actually believed they were the better side!! They were hopeless.

I would love if Vlad dug deep and made a bid for Boyd which gers accepted. Boyd at Tynie would certainly solve our goal scoring problems

#79 I don't know, could be that Vlads spoiling for a fight again.
He might be trying to get the GFA to turn down the work permit so that he can get the DWP or UEFA or someone involved to try and overrule them. Wouldn't put it past the man...

#84 You never know. The outcome will be interesting - hope they hurry up with their decision.

#82 Typical ignorant rankyers fans watching the game with their blue tinted spectacles. Lost count of the number of counter attacks Kaunas had and if they had a finisher last night, then rankyers would have been humped.

#84 May be wrong but I don't think there's any further appeal process. If they say no work permit then he'll be expected to exit the country at the end of any visa he may already have.

OMG wonders will never cease

Hearts were today successful in their bid for a work permit for 24-year-old Ugandan internationalist David Obua.

Following a hearing at Hampden Park today with the Work Permit Review Panel, attended by managing director Campbell Ogilvie and manager Csaba Laszlo, the club will now welcome one of Africa's top players.

How much do you think CO played a part in that though.

One of the heroes of last night has been unheralded......

Step forward Mr. Lithuanian air-horn man
He was driving the knuckledraggers and Rangers fawning commentary team nuts with constant "honking". Nevin and Donnelly were calling for his head and the nearby primeval Gers fans were heard on 4 occassions to clearly shout that they would "ram that Fu***** horn up your fu***** 4rse ya cu**"
Totally brilliant - AND THAT WAS BEFORE KAUNUS SCORED.
God help him.
