Dunbar's Jamie Duguid was a worthy winner of the GolfFit Lothians Boys' Championship after racking up three impressive victories at the Braids.

Duguid accounted for Bathgate’s Ross Callan, the 2015 Scottish Boys’ Championship runner-up, by 5&4 in his opening match. He then overcame David Rudd, a highly-rated youngster from Longniddry, in the semi-finals to set up a title showdown with the Glen’s Finlay Goodlad.

Having defeated Craigielaw’s Lewis Reid, the leading qualifier, Goodlad was probably the slight favourite heading into the final. But, after turning with a two-hole lead, Duguid won three of the next five holes as he secured the crown with a 5&4 victory.

Introduced for the first time last year, the event now involves separate under-16 and under-14 events in the match-play phase.

The under-16 title went to Longniddry’s Cameron Gallagher, who played for the Stephen Gallacher Foundation in the Dispatch Trophy. He defeated his clubmate, James Morgan, 4&3.

And, in the under-14 final, Cameron Adam from Royal Burgess recovered from the shock of losing the first three holes to beat Valdemar Hunderboll 6&5.
