WOULD-BE thieves trying to break into a Lothian football clubhouse smashed six windows.
The culprits targeted Linlithgow Rose FC in Prestonfield Park, Braehead Road, Linlithgow, between 1.30am and 2am on Monday.

After making two attempts to force entry, the suspects fled empty-handed. Police want to trace two male youths that were seen nearby. The first was 17 years old, 5ft 10in, slight build, short dark hair and wearing a navy blue hoodie. The second was 5ft 11in, with short blond curly hair and wearing a black leather jacket with a rucksack.

Police also believe the two suspects may have tried to break into Linlithgow Primary School at about 3.30am on Monday.

An alarm at the school was set off after an external door was forced open, but nothing was stolen.

Police enquiries revealed that a youth "not too dissimilar" to the first suspect was seen running on a path near the school.

A police spokesman said: "It is entirely possible that the suspects are responsible for both incidents in Linlithgow."
