HEAVY rains once more brought anxiety for residents of West Lothian last night, with Linlithgow particularly badly hit.
Just over an inch of rain fell at the Met Office's Gogarbank station overnight, and fire crews attended Linlithgow's Springfield Drive, Moray Drive, and Baron's Hill area, where water in the was raising concerns of residents.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire Service said: "The water didn't enter anybody's home, but there was a lot of flooding in the streets so we had an officer and crew out there reassuring people."

The downpour came just days after torrential rain devastated homes in Broxburn, leaving dozens of people homeless.

The Met Office said any remaining showers would clear up today, leaving a fine, dry night. The weekend should bring periods of sunshine.
